CONTRITIO: BY FSTN
The Macadam Gallery is glad to honour for the third time the work of the young Belgian Artist, FSTN, presenting the exhibition “CONTRITIO”.
It’s been three years since the last Solo Show we dedicated to FSTN. Three years in which we followed the evolution of the artist, the birth of many series, all stronger and more committed than the others. Three years of research, work and maturation that have brought us to this day, Friday September 13rd 2019, the Opening of the Solo Show “CONTRITIO”.
CONTRITIO
(feminine noun, latin):
1. Crushing
2. Ruin, destruction
3. Grief, sorrow, regret
September, most of the people will have enjoyed these last weeks to flee the city, to breathe and color their skin. To take fresh air and occupy another space than theirs. But we’ll be back in September. Back between the hot buildings of Brussels, to furrow the tar still boiling because of summer heat. How do you feel ? Contritio, a combination of very different series, determined to make you experience a sensation that we all already know, this feeling of oppression, of smothering and implosion that Pierre Coubeau knows so well how to put on paper.
Above all, this exhibition has a moral sense, it aims to enlarge these sensations to the social oppression, to the consumer society, to our roles, to the norms and rules on our shoulders in our daily life in this world though and led by humans, where the space is considered as a ground to get, fill and close. This world is in a way our shelter, indispensable in our own construction but that we love to flee.

This exhibition evokes this irrepressible need of space, air and gap.
