BORN IN SANTIAGO, CHILE IN 1981 – BASED IN MILAN (IT)
« Jaime Poblete born in Santiago, Chile in 1981. He studied at the Universidad de Chile, Scenography and History of Art. From 2000 to 2002 he worked as a set-designer for several theater companies in Santiago, Chile. He began his pictorial work in the Artefacto atelier of the Chilean artist Francisco Gonzalez, where he later worked as a professor of painting. From 2002 to 2007 he worked as a restorer at the Museum of Contemporary Art MAC of Santiago de Chile. From 2008 to 2010 Poblete lived and worked in Valencia, Spain, where he attended the Academy of Fine Arts of the Polytechnic University of Valencia. In 2011 he moved to Italy, where he consolidated his own style, deepening his research on color and its relationship with space, alternating with his interests in semiotics and philosophy.
Meditate on the surface and its opening towards space, Poblete’s artistic practice proposes a pictorial exercise where the chromatic starting point determines a accumulation impulse, an overlapping of gestural situations which, repeated almost like a mantra, constitute, surmounted, the corpus of a monochrom that impregnates the support. The color, forcing different points of saturation, acts in the duality of transparency-matter, insisting on overflowing the surface of the painting: its flow affects the boundaries of the form and the plasma. Hence the importance of the process of the manipulation, information that is later reworked, codified and put into dialogue with the space. In this way the support-color binomial determines the formal strategy of the artist, in which transpires the presence of a migrating pathos, giving way to an image that persists like a reverberation. »
